The Essex is a 478,570 square foot high rise 270-unit residential community on the shores of Lake Merritt developed by Essex Property Trust. This luxury apartment complex includes an eight-story building and a 20-story high rise. A motor court provides access to a 3 ½ level below grade parking structure and the residential lobby. Fitness and business centers located on the ground level feature lakeside views. Pool, spa and clubhouse facilities are located on an elevated garden terrace overlooking Lake Merritt.
The project took over an abandoned construction site which had been excavated years earlier. The design took this into account. Watry Design was hired because of our extensive experience in cast-in-place concrete design and our ability to integrate the parking with the structural system for the residential towers over parking.
