As the capital of Silicon Valley, the City of San Jose is no stranger to cutting edge technology. The downtown area is home to 8 public parking structures boasting a dynamic, integrated Parking Guidance System that provides real time availability of the City’s 6,294 parking stalls by parking structure in downtown San Jose. However, their parking control equipment was becoming antiquated. In order to continue providing the level of service expected for Silicon Valley, Watry Design was asked to collaborate with the City to specify equipment and create construction documents for equipment placement for a new Parking Access and Revenue Control system that offers the latest technology for payment, processing and validation.
Features of the new system will include the ability for visitors to reserve spaces and pay in advance as well as have parking validated via smartphone application. This system will also meet the City’s goals of providing a turnkey solution that separates the parking control server from other city systems, which will greatly improve efficiency. To support these initiatives, Watry Design also partnered with Dixon Resources Unlimited to develop an RFP for the City to upgrade their parking enforcement, including citation processing, permit management and support systems.
