  Stanford University Parking Structure 1
  Stanford, California

Within the natural setting of grand oaks and wild grass, lies a structure designed in response to the environment and user. Stepping of the mass and curving of the form creates a structure that blends into the University Campus. Stanford’s first parking structure was commissioned to the Watry Design Group through a “blind design competition” between 15 prequalified firms.

The structure has won many regional and national design awards for its architecture and function. Some awards include PCI Award of Excellence 1987, PTI Award of Excellence 1987, IMPC Honorable Mention 1988, ACI Award of Merit 1988, and the project was featured in Parking Magazine April 1997. Since this project, Stanford has commissioned three other parking structure projects to Watry Design.
