California State University Long Beach Parking Structure
  Long Beach, California

In 2001, Watry Design, Inc. was retained by the CSU Long Beach to design two new 2,600 stalls parking structures at CSULB in order to reduce the severe shortage of parking on the campus. Watry Design, Inc. was also happy to be selected as Architect and Structural Engineer of Record, to complete the design documents for the structures which were to be two individual 4 level parking structures, connected by bridges at the upper 3 levels.

Due to budget concerns, the project was reduced to only one parking structure. The structural system will be poured in place concrete columns and post-tensioned concrete slabs. The lateral system will be moment frames with downturn beams to help block glare from the interior light fixtures. The foundations design consists of two options; Fundex drilled piles or drilled piers. The exterior design incorporates the standard brick tile per CSULB campus standards.
