BART Fruitvale
Parking Structure |
| |
Oakland, California |
| |
|
| |
BART needed parking at the Fruitvale station
in Oakland, California to replace the surface parking lost to
a neighboring housing and commercial development. Only one small
parcel of land was available just north of the station and C. Overaa
& Company and Watry Design were selected to design and build
a parking structure on this property. |

|
| |
Five levels of parking provided for the
agency’s needs. The new parking structure contains 508 parking
stalls in 156,000 square feet, providing convenient parking
for patrons of the Fruitvale station. Included in the project
scope were several bus canopies for the intermodal facility
between the station and the parking structure. |

The architectural theme is
predominantly traditional arched openings and cornices which
mimic a theme established by the adjacent housing development.
As a good neighbor to this development the stucco finish, metal
roofs, colors and forms also borrow from the housing project. |
